OT GOAL GIVES BILLINGS BACK TO BACK GARHL TITLES
BILLINGS 2, GOBLINS 1 – OT FINAL
(Billings wins series 2-1)
Brian Rawbone scored the winner 1:53 into overtime as Billings repeated as A Division Champions with a 2-1 OT win in Game 3 against the Goblins. The game action was up and down all game. Brian Rawbone opened the scoring for Billings just under two minutes into the opening period as his shot handcuffed goalie Sean Murdy. Dave Newell and Jeff Columbus each added an assist on the play. Ryan Kelly then finally tied the game for the Goblins on a 5 on 3 Powerplay early in the second period from Brad Barbour. The game was deadlocked the rest of the way as goalies Sean Murdy and John Biro were unbeatable.
The game went to a 10 minute sudden death overtime period which was to be followed by a shootout. Brian Rawbone scored the winner on a one timer from Dave Newell and Len Fonte to give Billings the win and their second GARHL title.
Congrats to Billings and Doogies on their respective Championships.

DOOGIES CLAIMS B TITLE WHILE A DIVISION TO BE DECIDED THURSDAY NIGHT
Doogies claimed their first GARHL B Division Title with a tight 3-2 win over State Farm to take the series two games to none. In the A Division Final the Goblins came back to win 2-1 in a shootout to set the stage for an exciting game three showdown Thursday Night at the Sleeman Centre, puck drop is at 8:30pm.
DOOGIES 3, STATE FARM 2
(Doogies wins series 2-0)
Dean Fair led the Doogies attack with two goals and an assist while Paul Brydges added the winner and two assists in the win for Doogies. Ryan Adshade chipped in with two assists. Doogies took a quick lead and scored two other goals ten seconds apart to clinch the title.
Lloyd Bowers and Paul Iacocca led the State Farm attack with a goal each, while Jason Marcone, Peter Curtis and Greg Riff each added single assists.
GOBLINS 2, BILLINGS 1 – Shootout Final
(Series tied 1-1)
The Goblins scored a late goal in the second period to send the game to a shootout. Bob Schmaltz scored the only goal in the shootout for the Goblins to seal the win. John Biro and Sean Murdy were both excellent between the pipes for both teams, including only giving up one goal combined in the shootout.
Bob Schmaltz scored the lone regulation goal for the Goblins from Rogie Goodchild IV, and Kevin Kelly. Brian Rawbone continued his assault on the playoff scoring race with the lone goal for Billings while Jeff McDonald added the lone assist. Game 3 is set for 8:30pm at the Sleeman Centre tonight.
BILLINGS AND DOOGIES TAKE EARLY SERIES LEAD
Billings and Doogies each took a step closer to claiming the Distinctive Trophies GARHL Cup in their respective divisions on Monday Night. Game 2 of each series goes on Wednesday starting at 7:15pm at the Sleeman Centre.

BILLINGS 5, GOBLINS 2
(Billings leads final 1-0)
Shawn Richardson led the Billing attack with two goals while Mark Gazzola, Brian Rawbone and Brian Munaro, who had the winner, each added goals for Billings. Brian Munaro also had two assists in the win, and Wayne Horst, Mike Alarie, Beppy Toscan and broan Rawbone each added single assists.
Matt Belluz did all he could for the Goblins scoring both their goals with assists to Brad Barbour and Sean Stafford.
DOOGIES 4, STATE FARM 1
(Doogies leads final 1-0)
A balanced scoring attack from Doogies led to their decisive game one win. Dean Fair led the attack with a goal and three assists while Scott Burton, Eric Cronin and Adrian Brown each had single goals. John Cuyler and Paul Brydges added single assists in the win.
Greg Riff had the lone State Farm goal from Dave Iacocca and Luke Tucker.
BILLINGS BEGINS TITLE DEFENSE WITH WIN
BILLINGS 5, BOBBY O’BRIENS 1
(Billings leads series 1-0)
Defending ‘A’ Division Champions Billings began their 2009 GARHL playoff with a big win over rival Bobby O’Briens. Billings got out to a three goal first period lead with goals from Brian Manuro, Jeff MacDonald, and Ron Sartor. Brian Rawbone and Lenny Fonte added the other Billings goals, while Dave Newell added two assists.
Rob Craig broke the Billings shutout bid with the lone goal for Bobby’s.
CURWINS 3, WIT 1
(Curwins leads series 1-0)
Curwins won a penalty filled game with two goals late in the second period to secure their game one win. Jay Peart, Mike Chapman and Topher Baker scored for Curwins, while Jeff Peart added two assists.
Tim Lodder had the lone WIT goal, scored shorthanded in the first period.
GOBLINS 4, ALCO VALVES 2
(Goblins lead series 1-0)
The Goblins and Alco series began with a very entertaining game. The Goblins had a 2-1 lead after the first fifteen minutes on goals from Matt Belluz and Sean Stafford. Darryl Parsons had the lone Alco goal in the first. The Goblins then added another goal in the second by Kevin Kelly. Alco responded quickly after with a goal by Nic Stadjuhar to make it 3-2 but could not complete the comeback as Blair Conrad added an empty netter to ice the game for the Goblins.
WELLINGTON BREWERY 10, ALBION PIRANHAS 1
(Wellington leads series 1-0)
Kurt McArthur, Tom Bothwell, and Todd Hlushko each had two goals to lead Wellington to the rout of Albion. Scott Galajda and Paul Bertholot each added one goal and three assists, while Mike Oldrieve and Tom Howse added the other Welly goals.
Chris Bower had the lone goal for the Albion Piranhas.
DOOGIES 5, CHIEFS 2
(Doogies wins series 2-0)
Doogies completed the sweep of the Chiefs with a 5-2 win. Mike Comeau had two goals and assist for Doogies while Corey Savery, Mickey Zanardi and Paul Brydges each had the other goals. Ryan Adshade and Jimmy Gordon each chipped in with two assists.
Andrew Abel led the Chiefs attack with a goal and an assist while J.P. O’Connor added the other Chiefs goal. Mike Minor and Adam Schill each added an assist.
TIM HORTONS 4, POUR HOUSE 2
(Tim Hortons leads series 1-0)
Jack Kemper, Glen Teasdale, Geoff Teasdale and Mike Selman each had single goals for Tim Hortons as they jumped out to an early series lead with the win. Chris Brown and Chris Heslop each added two assists in the win for Timmy’s.

Lodder’s Five Point Night Musters A Single Point for WIT
WIT 5, CURWINS 5
Tim Lodder led WIT with a five point effort but it still wasn’t enough as a depleted WIT team managed to cling on to a tie in a wild affair. Jeff Peart had two goals and two assists in the tie for Curwins.

Darwin Diebel scored the winner with just under two minutes left at Tim Hortons escaped with the win on Monday night to extend their B Division lead. Brad Roach and Lloyd Bowers each had a goal and an assist in the loss for State Farm.

Berry’s Shutout Backstops First General to Win

Jay Berry stopped everything in front of him to lead First General to the win, as Tim Hortons suffered their first loss of the season. Sam Houston had the winning goal.

Tom Bothwell had the hat trick as Wellington earned a gritty point against the Goblins in GARHL action on Wednesday night. Mike Stanley had two assists for the Goblins.

Nick Stajduhar had two goals and an assist to lead Alco the victory over WIT. This game was marred with a combined thirty four minutes in penalties by both teams. WIT scored late to make the game close but could not muster the tie.

Late Billings Comeback Salvages Tie with Piranhas
BILLINGS 4, PIRANHAS 4
Goals by Mike Alarie and Mark Gazzola fourteen seconds apart late in the game, including the game tying goal with nine seconds left capped a very big Billings comeback to salvage a tie with the Piranhas. Jason Heath had four points (1G, 3A) for the Piranhas.

Pour House erased a two goal second period deficit but couldnt finish the comeback against State Farm. Eric Brohman led the State Farm attack with two goals and Peter Curtis added two assists as State Farm won their second game of the season.

Russell Schneider had the hat trick for WIT as they cruised past Alco in this contest. The game was tied 2-2 going into the final frame when WIT scored four unanswered goals for the win.

A seven goal first period onslaught led Doogies to the win. Melitron tried a comeback in the second period but came up short. Ryan Adshade and Steve Adshade each added one goal and two assists in the win.

Four Goal First Period Sparks Bobby O’Briens To Victory
A four goal first period outburst sparked Bobby O’Briens to thier first win of the 2008-2009 season. with a 6-1 drubbing of the Piranhas. Ryan Winters led the attack with a hat trick and added one assist in the win, while Jeremy Cooney added 3 assists. The Piranhas could not capitalize on their opportunities to keep the game close in the first period which ultimately led to a Bobby O’ Briens win.

Tim Hortons used yet another great defensive effort to slip by Melitron 2-1. Melitron struck first blood scoring early in the first while Tim Hortons quickly responded with two goals before the end of the first period to take the lead for good.

Mike Alarie’s hat trick led the Billings attack while Brian Rawbone added a goal and three assists to help Billings get the win. After leading the game 2-1 going into the second period Billings exploded for six second period goals to ice the victory.

Dan Connelly had a hat trick and added an assist for Doogies in the whitewashing of The Chiefs in B Division action. A 6-1 lead going into the second period was more than enough for Doogies to hold on for the win.
