THIRSTY CANUCKS CLAIM 2ND TITLE IN 3 YEARS

The Thirsty Canucks held off a furious late game surge by Tim Hortons to claim their 2nd GARHL Championship in 3 years and 3rd overall.  Thirsty Canucks hold on to a 4-2 lead as they needed an empty netter to clinch the title.

RU SERIOUS COMPLETES THREE-PEAT

RU Serious came back after trailing 2-0 early in Game 3 to defeat the South End Maulers 5-2. and win the Finals series 2-1. The win gives RU Serious their third consecutive GARHL Championship, which ties the all time GARHL Championship win streak with The Hornets, who accomplished the feat between 2003-2005.

Shane Hart led the RU Serious attack with a goal and three assists, Matt Gervais and Andrew Ferraro added two goals each in the win. Tyler Pettipere continued his torrid playoff goal pace by adding another goal in the loss to the top seeded South End Maulers.

MAULERS USE OT TO FORCE GAME 3

In a mirror result like the B Finals, the South End Maulers faced elimination in game two and fought back hard with a 2-1 OT win.  Dylan Furlong was the hero in OT with the winner to force a deciding Game 3 of the Finals scheduled for Thursday at 6:30pm at the Sleeman Centre.  Tyler Pettipere tied the game for the Maulers with 5:32 left in the 2nd.  Paul Brydges had the lone goal for RU Serious

Game 1 saw RU Serious come out to a 3-0 lead only to hold on for a 3-2 win.  A balanced scoring attack from RU Serious with goals from DJ Evans, Ryan Lappins and Paul Brydges took RU Serious out to a 3-0 lead.  Tyler Pettipere responded with both goals for the Maulers in the loss.

B FINAL GOING TO THE LIMIT

The B Final in the GARHL is going to the limit after the Thirsty Canucks and Tim Hortons split the first two games.

In Game 1, the Thirsty Canucks scored the only goal in the second period to defeat Tim Hortons 2-1.  Mark Godin and Kyle Armstrong scored for The Thirsty Canucks in the win, while Ryan McDonald replied for Tim Hortons.

In Game 2, Thirsty Canucks erased a two goal lead late, including a short handed marker to send the game to overtime, but it was not to be as Jeff Pazner scored the winner in OT to send it to a deciding game three on Thursday night.  Pazner led the Tim Hortons attack with two goals, while Scott Baillie and Glen Teasdale added singles in the win.  Adam Franklin, Derek Champ and Matt Johnson replied for the Thirsty Canucks in the loss.

A FINALS SET

RU Serious will get a chance to defend their A Division Title again as they take on the South End Maulers in the A Division Final.  RU Serious defeated Curwins 5-2 in Game 3 and won the series 2-1 to advance.

TIM HORTONS UPSETS MOLSON CANADIENS TO ADVANCE TO B FINAL

Tim Hortons got back to the GARHL Final after a long hiatus with a convincing 4-0 victory over the Molson Canadiens in game three of their B Division Semi Final.  They now take on the Thirsty Canucks in the B Final.

TWO TEAMS BOOK FINALS TICKETS

The Thirsty Canucks are the first team to advance to the GARHL Finals in the B Division.  The Thirsty Canucks defeated Shakey’s Pub Kings in two games to move on.  They await the winner of Game 3 of the Molson Canadiens/Tim Hortons Series, which goes at 7pm on Monday Night.

The top seeded South End Maulers booked their ticket to the A Division GARHL Final with a 4-1 win over Billings in game two, to complete the sweep.   The Maulers await the winner of the Curwins/RU Serious series which goes to game 3 on Monday.

The A Division Semi Finals are now set.

The South End Maulers finished their First Round comeback on Wednesday night as they defeated Wellington Brewery 8-3.  South End Maulers now face Billings, while Curwins takes on RU Serious
