GARHL FINALS MATCHUPS SET

The 2013-2014 GARHL Playoffs are coming to an end quickly as all four semi final series were sweeps.  We will see two new GARHL Champions crowned in the 2014 Finals.

A DIVISION

Curwins put up a resilient battle with the top seeded 84’s but could not send the series to a third and deciding game losing game two in the shootout 4-3.  A seven round shootout saw not one player score as goaltenders, Jon Sweetland and Rob Bryant stopped every shooter until the end when the 84’s finally solved the deadlock.

The South End Maulers defeated Wellington Brewery 6-5 in a shootout as well in Game two.  The Maulers erased a 5-1 second period deficit, and tied the game with three seconds left to send it to the shootout where they defeated Wellington.

B DIVISION

Top Seeded Tim Hortons secured their spot in the B Final with 4-1 win in game two, to sweep the Belugas in the first B Semi Final.  Tim Hortons returns to the finals looking for their first GARHL Cup.

Billings makes their debut in the B Final after dispensing of Craig Bowman Roofing in the Semi Finals.  John Biro’s shutout in game two led the way for Billings as they play Tim Hortons starting on Monday night at the Sleeman Centre.

The Full Finals Schedule will be posted shortly.

GARHL SEMI FINALS NEARLY SET

One spot remains in the chase for the GARHL Cup as most semi final spots have been claimed.

In the B Division, top seeded Tim Hortons awaits the winner of the Baker St. Station/Belugas series which will conclude at 6pm on Monday Night.

Craig Bowman Roofing went the distance and defeated a hard nosed Homes By Hillson team in game 3 by a score of 5-3 to advance. Number two seed Billings swept the seventh seeded OHL Experience in convincing fashion to advance.  Billings will play Craig Bowman Roofing in the other B Semi Final scheduled to begin on Monday, March 10 at the Sleeman Centre.

The A Division has their semi final matchups all set.  The 84’s, who had the best regular season record in the GARHL, swept a pesky Goblin team away in the first round.  The fifth seed, Curwins also completed a sweep of Bobby O’Briens with two very tightly played games.

The South End Maulers booked their ticket to the Semi’s with a sweep of rival Thirsty Canucks.  While Wellington knocked off the three time defending champions, RU Serious, in a very entertaining three game set.
