TWO TEAMS BOOK TICKET TO GARHL FINALS

The regular season champions from both the A and B Divisions booked their ticket to the 2012 GARHL Finals with sweeps in their semi final series.

The South End Maulers survived a game one shootout with the Piranhas and then disposed of them in game two to advance to the B Division Finals for the first time.  They await the winner of the other B Division Semi Final between McCabes and Thirsty Canucks.  The Thirsty Canucks won game one of the series and McCabes bounced back winning a close game two to set the stage for a deciding game three on Monday night.

In the A Division, R U Serious disposed of WIT with a convincing game one win and a shootout win in game two.  R U Serious looks to become back to back GARHL Champions as they will defend their title in this years Finals.  In the second A Division Semi Final, Molson Canadiens lead Wellington Brewery 1-0 in the series as they took game one.  Game two is scheduled for Monday night.

GARHL SEMI FINALS SET

Wednesday night concluded the first round of the GARHL playoffs.  In the first game, WIT pulled off a surprise upset of number two ranked Curwins with a convincing 6-2 win.   WIT now advances to face the top seeded RU Serious in the A Division Semi Finals.  The other A Division semi final will see the number three seeded Molson Canadiens taking on the number four seeded Wellington Brewery.

In the B Division, the Thirsty Canucks came back from a one game deficit to defeat the number seven seeded Pour House with a tightly contested 3-1 win on Wednesday night.  The B Division Semi Finals will see the number one seeded South End Maulers take on number five Piranhas.  Meanwhile, number two Thirsty Canucks will take on number three seeded McCabes.  Both series will start on Monday.

GARHL SEMI FINAL MATCHUPS STILL UNDECIDED

The number two seeds in both the A and B division were not too kind to both teams.  In each division the #2 seeds will faceoff against their respective #7 seeds in game three of their series.

In the B Division, the Thirsty Canucks defeated a resilient Pour House team 4-2 on Monday night to force a deciding game three on Wednesday night.

In the A Division WIT will faceoff against Curwins, also on Wednesday night, to decide the winner of that series.

The Molson Canadiens and Wellington Brewery joined RU Serious in the A Division Semi Finals with series sweeps.  Molson defeated Bobby O’Briens 8-5 in Game 2, while Wellington defeated the Goblins,3-1,  in a spirited affair on Monday night to move on.

The top seeded South End Maulers put away First General on Monday night with a 12-5 drubbing to advance to the B Division Semi Final.

THREE TEAMS ADVANCE TO GARHL SEMI FINALS

The first round of the GARHL playoffs are well underway and already three teams have swept their series and moved on to the GARHL Semi Finals.

McCabes disposed of State Farm in two games, with a 2-1 Shootout win in game 2 to advance in the B Division.  Also advancing was the #5 seed Piranhas who upset #4 seeded Tim Hortons in two games.  Both teams will await the winners of the other series.  In the other B Division series, #7 seed, Pour House, shocked #2 seeded Thirsty Canucks with a 3-1 win in Game 1, game 2 goes on Monday, March 19.  The South End Maulers also lead their series 1-0 with a convincing 9-2 win in game 1.

In the A Division #1 seed R U Serious made short work of Billings in two games, winning both games 4-1 and 3-1.  # 2 seeded Curwins came back on Monday night to even their series with #7 WIT after a hard fought 3-1 win.  #3 seeded Molson Canadiens won the first game of their series in a shootout over #6 Bobby O’Briens as did #4 Wellington Brewery as they beat the #5 Goblins in a shootout.  Both teams lead their respective series 1-0.

GARHL PLAYOFFS UNDERWAY

The 2012 GARHL Playoffs got underway on Monday night.  In the B Division, McCabes opened up the post season with a convincing 5-0 win over State Farm, to take a 1-0 series lead.  The Piranhas, led by a 5 goal output by Jason Heath, dumped Tim Hortons 7-1, to take the first game of their series.

The A Division saw one game on Monday night and it needed extra time to be decided.  Curwins faced WIT in game one and Curwins jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the first period.  WIT took advantage of a short Curwins bench to claw back into the game and tie it at three after regulation.  The game went to a shootout where WIT scored on all three attempts to win game one 4-3.
