GARHL FINALS PREVIEW

There will be new champions crowned in the A and B Division in the 2016 edition of the GARHL Finals.  Shootin’ Blanks solidified their place in the final winning a tough three game series versus defending champions, RU Serious.  The newest team to the GARHL will look to win the title in their first year of playing in the league.  They take on the South End Maulers, who have been finalists three times before and are now looking to break their finals losing streak.  This matchup pits the top two scoring teams in the GARHL in what should be a great series.

The B Division Final has two underdogs, the #6 seeded, Royal Electric, take on #7 Tim Hortons for the title. Tim Horton’s, much like the Maulers, have been to the finals on past occasions but have yet to hoist the GARHL Cup.  Royal Electric also look to win their first GARHL Title.  Both teams relied on outstanding goaltending to get them to the finals and we are sure this trend will continue as each team tries to get their hands on the GARHL Cup.

The Finals start on Wednesday March 23 at the Sleeman Centre.  For all GARHL updates follow us on twitter @theGARHL and like our facebook page!

BIG UPSET IN ROUND 1

Back to back defending B Division Champions, Billings, will not be able to cap a 3-Peat as Tim Hortons came back down one game in their opening round series to shock the B Division Champs in three games.  Trailing in game three, Tim Hortons scored three unanswered goals to take the lead in the game and never look back.  Tim Hortons will now try and continue their Cinderella GARHL Playoff run as they face the top seeded, Power Bus Way (who swept Pour House), in the GARHL B Semi Final.

In the other B Division opening round matchups, Craig Bowman Roofing defeated long time rival Homes By Hillson to advance in the GARHL Playoffs with a two game sweep, needing a shootout in the final game to advance.  They await the winner of game three between Huber Windows and Royal Electric, which takes place Monday night at the Sleeman Centre.

A DIVISION

Top seeded South End Maulers overcame a hard nosed OHL Experience team in the first round to advance, while Cavalry Contracting swept aside Wellington Brewery with a solid defensive effort in their series.  The South End Maulers will face Cavalry Contracting in the A Semi Finals.

Newcomers to the league, Shootin’ Blanks disposed of Bobby O’Briens outscoring them 15-4 in two games to advance, and win their first ever GARHL Playoff series.
