GARHL PLAYOFF MATCHUPS AND SCENARIOS

The quest for the 2017 GARHL Championship begins in two weeks time but some playoff matchups have already been revealed.

In the B Division, The Flames clinched top spot with a win on Wednesday night (as they would own the tie break over Tim Hortons via wins).  That sets up a matchup with #8 Dawson Dental in the first round.  Second ranked Tim Hortons opponent has also been decided, as Power Bus Way will finish as the #7 seed.

Craig Bowman Roofing has clinched third spot and will await either The OHL Experience, Billings or Flying Hellfish.  These three teams will finish somewhere between the four and six spots in the standings.

In the A Division, RU Serious has clinched top spot.  Shootin’ Blanks will finish second and South End Maulers will drop to third.  The fourth and fifth seeds have yet to be decided but they will face each other in the first round as Cavalry will take on Huber Window Cleaning in the first round.

Wellington Brewery can clinch the 6th seed with a win or tie in their final game.  A Wellington loss and Thirsty Canuck win would put Wellington into 7th and move the Canucks into the 6th spot.  Bobby O’Briens can move out of the basement to the 7th seed with a win and a Canuck loss.

GARHL DIVISION UPDATE

After the ten game mark in the regular season we see Huber Window Cleaning move  to A Division with 18 points.  They will carry over their points from the first ten games into A Division.  OHL Experience will move to B Division and also carry over all of their points.

GARHL FINALS PREVIEW

There will be new champions crowned in the A and B Division in the 2016 edition of the GARHL Finals.  Shootin’ Blanks solidified their place in the final winning a tough three game series versus defending champions, RU Serious.  The newest team to the GARHL will look to win the title in their first year of playing in the league.  They take on the South End Maulers, who have been finalists three times before and are now looking to break their finals losing streak.  This matchup pits the top two scoring teams in the GARHL in what should be a great series.

The B Division Final has two underdogs, the #6 seeded, Royal Electric, take on #7 Tim Hortons for the title. Tim Horton’s, much like the Maulers, have been to the finals on past occasions but have yet to hoist the GARHL Cup.  Royal Electric also look to win their first GARHL Title.  Both teams relied on outstanding goaltending to get them to the finals and we are sure this trend will continue as each team tries to get their hands on the GARHL Cup.

The Finals start on Wednesday March 23 at the Sleeman Centre.  For all GARHL updates follow us on twitter @theGARHL and like our facebook page!

In the A Division.  The South End Maulers defeated Cavalry Contracting 3-1 in Game 2 of their series to complete the sweep and advance to another GARHL A Division final.  They will play the winner of the RU Serious/Shootin’ Blanks series, their series will commence on Wednesday night at the Sleeman Centre.  The defending GARHL Champions, RU Serious, fought a hard game to stay alive and keep their hopes of repeating alive.
